Louli Designs by Alya Talat

With a background in computer science and a master’s degree in business administration, I aim to bring a unique perspective to the world of design. Having travelled a lot since a young age allowed me to explore cultures from various Arab and Western countries, where I absorbed the rich and diverse influences of each place I have lived in. These experiences have been translated into my designs, creating a harmonious fusion of tradition and modernity. A few years ago I decided to make a career shift from being a programmer and university instructor to a full-time designer, creating patterns for home decor and accessories.

‘Louli’ is a nickname commonly used for the name “Alya”, which is why it is often thought to be the reason why my business was named “Louli”. But that’s not exactly why I chose it to start with. My first attempt at a creative business was in 2003 when I was selling handmade jewelry. My focus was on beads and pearls, and ‘Louli’ also happens to be the Arabic word for pearls, which fit perfectly as my business name. Over the years, I continued to try various business ventures – web development, graphic design, and now surface print and pattern design, and the name ‘Louli’ has stayed with me through it all and grown to be my brand name.
